It was a different approach, but HEAVY BREATHING was still required. Dan discovered another little trail off the Shoreline that we had not ridden. Well we couldn't have that so off we went.
It went straight up a little gully and was barely rideable, but not quite steep enough that we would just give up and push. We made it up to the first saddle with many dismounts and restarts, but the final bit up to the ridge was pure hike-a-bike. Once on the ridge there was a nice section that was rideable and then the trail joined our usual approach trail (Heavy Breathing #1).
Pretty soon we were at the top. The last time we were up there was early summer (May?) with Kent. I forgot just how much fun the descent was. It is just really steep and, at first, kinda scary. But then you get comfortable with it and realize it is all rideable and it just gets more and more fun. The last part goes right down a ridge towards town. The city lights were just coming up as we plunged -- great fun.
