The first set of pictures are of the South Fork of the Smith River where we camped for two nights and had some delicious swimming in a deep (25') pool of cool clear water. This was by no means the only spot on the Smith (there are 3 forks and lots and lots of amazing spots for swimming. The harder part was finding a good camping spot.
Next we we went to the coast and the Redwoods in Jededia Smith National Park where we rode our mountain bikes on a (closed) road and hiked to the "Boy Scout Tree", then on to the Middle Fork of the Smith where we went swimming and then rode back.
Then we drove up the Oregon Coast to Gold Beach, stopping and sightseeing along the way. Eventually we drove up the Rouge River valley and camped in a beautiful National Forest Campground for two more nights. While there we rode the tandem and went swimming (of course) in the Illinois River (also crystal clear and gorgeous).
Finally, we drove up over a pass on another tiny road and down into to eastern side of the coastal mountains to the town of Merlin. There we rented "duckies" and floated 14 miles down the Rouge, which was really fun with lots of small rapids along the way.
