We always miss our best buddy, Paul Charpentier, ever since he left us for Moscow, Idaho a couple of years ago. Luckily we get to see him, ski with him, bike with him every now and again

The planets aligned for us to meet up in McCall, Idaho in mid July so Dan, Evan, Dwight and I headed up after work on Thursday -- making it almost there that night. We finished off the drive Friday morning and, after some grocery shopping headed out for a ride

It was a typical disorganized fluster, but after many arguments about this way or that way and riding around in circles for what seemed like forever we found the trail. Everyone's spirits lifted instantly and we had some excellent single track to ride.

On the way back we found somehow managed to reconnect all the dots and ended up coming out exactly where we went in. A swim in the cold river right near our camp and a spaghetti dinner finished off the day nicely.

The next day Evan, Dan and I rode the Loon lake loop on the single speeds. It was a spectacularly beautiful ride with amazing sections along a river, then later passing Loon Lake. I want to go back -- we all agreed it would be a great ride for some bike camping.

Sunday we went back to to take Paul and Dwight to see the river. Dwight wasted no time ditching his bike for his fly rod, while the rest of us rode this great section of trail. We finished off with another dip and some beers. It was a great weekend.
